An Open Letter to Oath Breakers

You swore an oath.

Not to your department.
Not to your paycheck.
Not to your badge.

You swore an oath to the Constitution of the United States.

You made a promise to defend the rights of the people, not to exploit them, not to ignore them, and not to trample them in the name of convenience, fear, or ego.

Understand this clearly:

We are the people.
We are the governed.
And we are the ones to whom that oath is owed.

At NJ Accountability, we are not confused about who holds true authority.

It is not granted by your badge.
It is not granted by your title.
It is not granted by your department’s internal policies.
It is granted only by the Constitution, and it is conditional on your obedience to it.

Every action you take in violation of your oath is a matter of public concern.

Every abuse of power, every unlawful detention, every unlawful search, every denial of public records, every act of retaliation against citizens lawfully exercising their rights, these are betrayals.

We are watching.
We are documenting.
We are preserving the record for the court of law and the court of history.

This is not a threat.
It is not violence.
It is not defiance without cause.

It is accountability, the kind you swore to respect when you took your oath.

If you honor your oath, you have nothing to fear from NJ Accountability.
In fact, you have our respect.

If you break your oath, you will not be allowed to do so quietly.
You will not be protected by silence.

You will not be shielded by policy or hidden behind a badge.

We will use lawful speech.
We will use lawful documentation.
We will use lawful exposure.
And if necessary, we will use lawful litigation to ensure that betrayal has a price.

Because you chose to accept the authority of law.

And with that choice came responsibility, one you cannot cast aside when it becomes inconvenient.

Let this stand as fair warning to every public servant who would see their oath as a technicality:

You will be held accountable.

By the law.
By the people.
By history.

We are NJ Accountability.

And we are enforced by necessity!
